Teletherapy Guide for Oregon

General Guide (All Licensures)

Practitioners holding an active Oregon license may provide teletherapy services to Oregon residents. Under Oregon laws behavioral health specialists providing telemedicine include licensed psychologists, social workers, counselors and marriage and family therapists. See Oregon Revised Statutes Chapter 414 section 414.025 for definitions, and the Oregon Medical Board Page on Telemedicine for more specific guidelines on the practice and delivery of services through telemedicine.

Psychology

Social Work

Teletherapy included with a state license. Must abide by all in-person care standards and Oregon Telemedicine guidelines.

Marriage & Family Therapy

Teletherapy included with a state license. Must abide by all in-person care standards and Oregon Telemedicine guidelines. Oregon Board of Licensed Professional Counselors and Marriage and Family Therapists recommend following ACA Code of Ethics (Section H on Distance Counseling) and NBCC Policy Regarding the Provision of Distance Professional Services.
