Some candidates have difficulty with questions because they overanalyze the question stem and/or answer options. Sometimes they add information or choose an answer that seems the most complex (e.g., wordy, multiple parts), but sometimes the simpler response is the correct response. If you find yourself thinking “it’s too easy, it must be a trick…” or “ but what if…” or “if only I had x information..” then you might be overanalyzing the question or answers. When this happens, take a step back and look at the question, find out what it’s asking you, identify the core components of the concept involved, and then review the answer choices. Sometimes the simplest response is the correct response and there are easy questions on the EPPP, so trust your gut!
