Abnormal Psyc Study Aid: Alcohol Withdrawal Symptoms

Last week we posted a mnemonic for Alcohol Intoxication Symptoms. Check out the PAST NITE mnemonic and visual aid below to remember the symptoms of alcohol withdrawal. This mnemonic also works for sedative, hypnotic, and anxiolytic withdrawal symptoms!

Alcohol Withdrawal is diagnosed in the presence of at least two of the following symptoms within several hours to a few days following the cessation or reduction of alcohol consumption: autonomic hyperactivity, (e.g. sweating, tachycardia), hand tremor, insomnia, nausea or vomiting, transient illusions or hallucinations, anxiety, psychomotor agitation, and/or generalized tonic-clonic seizures.
