Checking on Your Feelings and Thoughts about the Exam

What are your thoughts as you are preparing for this exam?

What are your feelings and attitudes as you sit down to study, or as you look ahead to the exam?

Now ask yourself—What could be the consequences of those thoughts, feelings, and attitudes in terms of emotions, energy, the will to prepare, and staying the course in your preparation?

If you have identified any negativity, now is the time to dispute it! Are you saying things to yourself like “I hate this!” “I can’t do this” and “I’m never going to pass!”? Be assertive and talk back to those statements!

Adopt a positive attitude and tell yourself: “I will pass!” See the exam as “good” rather than the enemy, and focus on evidence that contradicts those negative statements. Remind yourself of the education and training that has gotten you this far, the knowledge you have gained, and the intelligence that you have. What you have already experienced takes perseverance, discipline, sacrifice, and determination so you already have these skills within you!

For those of you taking the exam after previous attempt(s), I encourage you to see those times as a “learning experience” and affirm that you are preparing effectively this time!

Your mindset and attitude are powerful!
