A Good Study Plan Includes Rest

Since the start of the new year, there have been a few posts here on this study group page about the importance of a study plan, jumping in, and getting started. While those are all important, and necessary if you want to pass the exam, I would be forgetting a huge piece if I didn’t mention the importance of taking breaks. I found this picture above from https://www.thesimplicityhabit.com/ and it make me think about how this applies to many areas of our life, but very much so with studying for this exam.

I can remember the thoughts I would have when studying for this exam. I would place pressure on myself anytime that I wasn’t studying, even if I had a great study session already that day. I found myself feeling guilty for times when I was doing anything else, even when those other things were important.

Do you think it is okay to take a day off from studying? Do you find yourself feeling guilty? When I provide coaching, I make sure to incorporate a study plan that doesn’t feel like it is consuming the person’s life. I emphasize to the person that you will have to switch around some obligations, say no to fun things at times, and fit this in your schedule, but I also don’t want them to get to the point of burnout.

Are there certain things you do to help you recharge? I like to plan a coffee date with a friend, or go for a long walk when I need to recharge. Share your ideas here for us all to find new creative ways to recharge. Remember that studying for this exam is not forever, but give yourself rest time during your study plan as well.
