The social work profession has been awarded a federal grant for the development of an interstate licensure compact for social workers. A compact signifies a legal agreement between states that will allow licensed social workers within participating states to practice within those states. As current, social workers must be licensed in the state they wish to practice. The Council of State Governments (CSG), The Association of Social Work Board (ASWB), National Association of Social Workers (NASW), and Clinical Social Work Association (CSWA) will all work together to enhance the mobility of social workers and the entire licensure system.
